All public universities across Cambodia have now fully adopted the verify.gov.kh digital document verification platform, marking a significant milestone in the nation’s digital transformation journey. Mr. Chea Vandeth, Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, announced this achievement to the media on May 13th, highlighting the platform’s growing impact.
In addition to the 100% adoption rate among state universities, approximately 70% of private universities are also currently utilizing the verify.gov.kh platform, demonstrating its increasing acceptance and utility within the educational sector. The platform’s reach extends far beyond education; out of Cambodia’s 26 ministries, 24 are actively using verify.gov.kh to streamline the delivery of public services to citizens.
Minister Chea Vandeth further detailed the substantial benefits reaped from the platform’s implementation. Notably, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports alone reportedly saves over $6 million annually by leveraging verify.gov.kh for the efficient verification of academic degrees and certificates, thereby enhancing security and administrative efficiency.
The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications is actively working to expand the scope of verify.gov.kh’s usage even further into the private sector. The platform serves as a crucial tool for authenticating both commercial and official documents, eliminating the need for physical original documents or the cumbersome legalization of photocopies. This streamlines processes, reduces fraud, and enhances trust in document authenticity.
verify.gov.kh’s innovative approach and effectiveness have garnered international recognition. On February 1st, 2024, in Singapore, the platform was awarded the Gold Medal for Digital Solutions for Best ASEAN Public Services. This prestigious award marks a historic achievement for Cambodia, as it is the first time the nation has received a gold medal for its digital solutions in providing top-tier public services within the ASEAN region.
