Cambodia Unveils “6 Shoulds” Campaign to Boost Green Season Tourism

Phnom Penh, Cambodia – The Cambodian Ministry of Tourism has launched a vibrant new advertising campaign designed to attract both domestic and international tourists to experience the nation’s “Green Season,” which coincides with the rainy months. This initiative aims to highlight the unique beauty and serene experiences Cambodia offers from May to October, a period traditionally overlooked by travelers.

Central to this campaign is the introduction of the “6 Shoulds,” a comprehensive strategic guide for tourists to fully immerse themselves in Cambodia’s rich offerings during this lush period. These guidelines encourage visitors to:

1. **Should Want to See**: Discover the breathtaking natural landscapes, from vibrant, lush green mountains to majestic waterfalls and verdant meadows, which are at their most picturesque during this season.
2. **Should Stay**: Indulge in relaxing accommodations at resorts or hotels, enjoying the fresh air and taking advantage of special discounts on lodging and travel experiences.
3. **Should Taste**: Savor the diverse flavors of local Cambodian cuisine, enjoy fresh fruits directly from plantations, and refresh themselves with unique seasonal beverages.
4. **Should Visit**: Explore Cambodia’s rich historical sites, protected natural areas, and renowned ecotourism communities. Featured destinations include the iconic Angkor complex, the natural wonders of Mondulkiri, and the untamed beauty of Ratanakkiri.
5. **Should Try**: Embark on new adventure experiences, such as challenging treks through the rainforest, scenic boat trips, captivating bird watching excursions, and engaging with the indigenous cultures of local communities.
6. **Should Buy**: Support the local economy by purchasing authentic Cambodian handicraft products, locally sourced natural agricultural goods, and unique souvenirs directly from community artisans.

During the official launch ceremony held on Chaktomuk Pedestrian Street, His Excellency Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, emphasized the campaign’s objective to reshape traditional perceptions of the rainy season. He stated that the “Green Season” and the “6 Shoulds” slogan were crafted to demonstrate that the period from May to October is, in fact, an ideal time for leisure travel, showcasing nature at its most beautiful.

The Minister further underscored the Royal Government of Cambodia’s commitment to tourism, declaring, “Tourism is a priority sector and an important economic pillar of the Royal Government of Cambodia, aligning perfectly with the first phase of the Pentagon strategy. Cambodia remains a safe tourist destination, offering warmth and exceptional hospitality to all its visitors.” This campaign reinforces Cambodia’s dedication to sustainable tourism and its continuous efforts to welcome travelers year-round.
