Phnom Penh, Cambodia – January 2026 witnessed a robust performance in Cambodia’s international trade, with the total volume reaching an impressive $6.023 billion. This significant achievement represents a substantial 19.1 percent increase compared to the same period in January 2025, according to official trade data compiled by the General Department of Customs and Excise of Cambodia.
Delving deeper into the customs data, Cambodian exports for January were valued at approximately $2.919 billion, demonstrating a strong 26.6 percent growth. Concurrently, imports reached $3.104 billion, an increase of 12.8 percent compared to January 2025 figures.
China continued its position as Cambodia’s foremost trading partner, with their bilateral trade volume in January totaling approximately $1.904 billion. Within this, Cambodian exports to China accounted for over $164 million, while imports from China into Cambodia were valued at more than $1.740 billion.
The United States stood as Cambodia’s second-largest trading partner, recording a trade volume exceeding $1.321 billion in January. This represents an impressive 48 percent surge, primarily driven by Cambodian exports to the US market, which amounted to $1.282 billion. Conversely, imports from the United States to Cambodia were valued at over $38 million.
Beyond these top two partners, other key trading nations for Cambodia in January 2026 included Vietnam, Japan, Canada, Spain, Indonesia, and the United Kingdom. The report from the General Department of Customs further indicated that trade relations with these partners also experienced positive growth during the month.
Looking at the broader context of the previous year, Cambodia’s total trade volume with international partners throughout 2025 reached $65.20 billion, marking a significant increase of 17.66 percent. Exports in 2025 accounted for $31.28 billion, up 16.95 percent, while imports stood at $33.96 billion, an increase of 18.32 percent.
The Ministry of Commerce identified Cambodia’s primary export products to international markets as garments, travel goods and bags, footwear, electronics, and motorcycle tire components. Agricultural products like cassava, cashew nuts, rice, pepper, palm sugar, and rubber also featured prominently. Additionally, certain products experienced particularly strong export growth, including wiring and wiring harnesses, toys, lamps and lighting equipment, furniture, and animal feed.
