Cambodia’s industrial landscape has been significantly bolstered with the official inauguration of its seventh car tire factory, strategically located in Bavet, Svay Rieng province. This substantial new facility represents an investment nearing $300 million and is poised to create over 600 new job opportunities for the local population, according to an announcement released by the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC).
The Chinese-backed manufacturing plant, identified as Van Lytier, officially commenced its operations on January 12th. Spanning approximately 32 hectares, this state-of-the-art factory is situated within the Sin Bavet Special Economic Zone in Bavet City, Svay Rieng Province, highlighting the region’s growing appeal for industrial development.
In its initial operational phase, the Van Lytier tire factory is projected to achieve an impressive annual production capacity of about 6 million tires. Looking ahead, the company aims to considerably expand its output to 12 million tires annually once the plant is fully operational by the end of 2026. These tires are primarily intended for distribution across both regional and global markets, further solidifying Cambodia’s burgeoning role in international manufacturing supply chains.
Van LiTier, a prominent Chinese enterprise, is recognized for producing a diverse range of well-known tire brands, including WANLI, MILEVER, SUNNY, APTANY, and DIAMOND, all of which are exported to the global market. The CDC has confirmed that this significant investment marks Van LiTier’s inaugural overseas factory, underscoring its commitment to global expansion and leveraging Cambodia’s competitive advantages. The production lines within the facility are equipped with advanced automation and high-technology systems, ensuring efficiency, precision, and adherence to international quality standards.
With this latest addition, Cambodia now proudly hosts seven operational factories dedicated to producing car tires for the international market. The Council for the Development of Cambodia anticipates a robust future for the sector, projecting that by 2025, Cambodia will produce and export approximately 31 million car tires, contributing an estimated $1.385 billion to the national economy. This impressive growth trajectory underscores the nation’s increasing appeal as an investment destination and its rapidly expanding manufacturing capabilities.
