Bilateral trade between Cambodia and the United States has achieved a significant milestone, reaching approximately $2.34 billion during the first two months of the current year. This impressive figure represents a substantial increase of 39.9% when compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
According to data meticulously compiled by the General Department of Customs and Excise of Cambodia (GDCE), which operates under the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the trade interactions from January to February showcased robust activity. Cambodia’s exports to the American market alone accounted for a staggering $2.26 billion, demonstrating a growth of 39.1%. Concurrently, imports from the United States also experienced remarkable expansion, surging by 64.8% to exceed $80 million.
This notable uptick in trade, particularly the surge in imports from the US, is attributed to a strategic policy enacted by Cambodia. The nation implemented a zero-percent customs duty on a range of eligible goods originating from the United States, a measure that has been in effect since August 8, 2025. Both Cambodia and the US have expressed a strong commitment to further enhancing their bilateral trade relations and fostering increased two-way investment.
Looking back at the entirety of 2025, Cambodia’s total trade volume with the United States reached approximately $13.15 billion, indicating a 29.2% increase over the figures recorded in 2024. During that year, Cambodian exports to the US market amounted to $12.73 billion, growing by 28.5%, while imports from the US saw a substantial 57.8% rise, totaling $417 million.
The United States remains a vital and expansive market for Cambodian products, particularly for key export categories such as garments, textiles, footwear, and a diverse range of travel goods. Cambodia has successfully maintained its strong presence and market share in the US, a testament to effective bilateral trade negotiations, including a successful agreement on a 19% countervailing duty. Furthermore, the Ministry of Commerce has diligently enforced stringent Rules of Origin for exports to the US, notably through the implementation of Certificates of Origin (OCL) for 120 of Cambodia’s most significant potential export products.
Beyond its strong ties with the US, Cambodia engages in significant trade partnerships with numerous other countries, including China, Vietnam, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Spain, Canada, Indonesia, Germany, the Netherlands, South Korea, the United Kingdom, Taiwan, and Italy.
Cambodia’s primary international exports encompass a wide array of goods, such as garments, footwear, travel items and bags, vehicle tires, paddy rice, electronics and their components, cashews, various textiles, cassava, bicycles, electrical wires and harnesses, natural rubber, milled rice, automotive parts, bicycles and motorcycles, bananas, mangoes, and sugar. Conversely, the country’s main imports include construction materials, fuel, iron and steel, passenger cars, various consumer goods, coal, motorcycles, agricultural fertilizers, cigarettes, and essential medicines.
