Agricultural Veteran Mong Reththy Urges Cambodian Farmers: Fortify Finances Against Market Volatility

Sihanoukville – Duke Mong Reththy, the esteemed CEO of Mong Reththy Group, has issued crucial advice to Cambodian farmers, urging them to proactively build financial reserves. This strategic preparation, he emphasized, is vital for enduring the inherent and often unforeseen risks associated with agricultural market fluctuations.

Drawing from his extensive three decades of experience in the agricultural sector, a period marked by both significant successes and challenging setbacks, Duke Mong Reththy highlighted the unpredictable nature of the industry. As a seasoned agricultural millionaire, his primary concern is to empower Cambodian farmers with the knowledge and tools for effective cost management and reserve accumulation. His goal is to ensure business stability, particularly during critical planting seasons or periods of declining produce prices.

Duke Mong Reththy underscored his advice with a practical example, stating, “Some individuals might intend to purchase a vehicle valued at $20,000, but when their agricultural products sell at a high price, they might consider buying one for $50,000 without adequate down payment preparation. My own company experiences similar cycles of profit and loss.” He continued, offering a clear financial guideline: “When agricultural products command higher prices and profits are robust, I strongly advise against spending more than 40 percent of those earnings. Instead, save the remaining 60 percent. This substantial reserve will be crucial for sustaining operations during challenging periods when prices inevitably decline.”

This significant counsel was delivered by Duke Mong Reththy during a visit by journalists. The media delegation was on-site to explore the “Mong Reththy Agricultural Production Chain” on February 21st, located in the Keo Phos area of Preah Sihanouk province, gaining firsthand insight into the operations and strategies that underpin his success.
