Phnom Penh, Cambodia – The private sectors of Cambodia and Saudi Arabia have collectively pledged to enhance economic, investment, trade, and tourism cooperation between the two nations. This commitment was highlighted during a productive meeting on February 8th between Mr. Kith Meng, President of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce, and Mr. Waleed Nasser Alsheri, Chairman of the Saudi Business Council.
During their discussion, Mr. Kith Meng underscored the current opportune landscape of Cambodia’s economy, emphasizing its suitability for fostering stronger business collaboration with Saudi Arabia. He specifically advocated for the establishment of direct flights between Cambodia and Saudi Arabia. This initiative, he noted, would serve as a critical catalyst for boosting bilateral trade, investment, and solidifying a long-term partnership. Mr. Waleed Nasser Alsheri, for his part, acknowledged and commended the significant progress observed in Cambodia’s trade and economic sectors.
According to a press statement released by the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Alsheri expressed strong agreement regarding the necessity and benefits of launching direct flight services between the two countries. He articulated his view that the presence of direct flights would be instrumental in significantly advancing trade and investment cooperation between Cambodia and Saudi Arabia.
On the same day, February 8th, Mr. Waleed Nasser Alsheri also held discussions with Ms. Cham Nimul, Cambodia’s Minister of Commerce. This meeting primarily focused on reinforcing bilateral trade cooperation between Cambodia and Saudi Arabia.
During this engagement, Minister Cham Nimul extended an invitation to the Saudi business delegation, urging them to consider investment opportunities within Cambodia’s Special Economic Zones, particularly for the production of Halal-certified products. This detail was reported by the Ministry of Commerce.
Mr. Waleed Nasser Alsheri further conveyed his intention to organize an official visit for a Saudi business delegation to Cambodia in the near future. Addressing the Minister of Commerce, he emphasized, “Cambodia represents a crucial gateway for regional trade integration within ASEAN and its development vision aligns well with Saudi Vision 2030.”
Both parties have shown firm resolve to foster effective trade relations, as per information from the Ministry of Commerce. There is significant optimism that the establishment of the Saudi Arabia-Cambodia Business Council will further strengthen ties between the business communities of both countries, thereby facilitating the expansion of trade and investment operations.
