Phnom Penh, Cambodia – The Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) has announced a significant achievement, generating over $29.35 million in revenue from the registration of special and personalized vehicle license plates during the year 2025. This impressive financial performance was detailed in the Ministry’s comprehensive conference report summarizing its work for 2025, which was presented on February 5th.
During the conference, Minister of Public Works and Transport, Mr. Peng Po, highlighted the remarkable growth in registrations. He noted that the number of vehicles acquiring these distinctive plates had seen a substantial increase compared to 2024. In total, the MPWT registered 56,381 units of special and personalized license plates throughout 2025, accumulating 117,424 million Riels in revenue. This sum translates to approximately $29.356 million, marking a notable rise from the 82,055 million Riels earned in 2024.
The detailed report further segmented the revenue sources for 2025:
* **Standard Special License Plates:** 38,167 units were registered, contributing 53,217 million Riels to the total revenue.
* **Personalized License Plates:** 18,214 units were registered, generating a higher yield of 64,207 million Riels.
Looking at the broader trend, the Ministry’s data reveals sustained growth over several years. From 2021 to 2025, the Ministry of Public Works and Transport recorded the registration of 189,927 special and personalized license plates. This five-year period collectively yielded 425,150 million Riels in revenue, amounting to more than $100 million, underscoring the consistent demand and financial success of this initiative.
